Nissan Sylphy uses a four-cylinder engine, and there is no three-cylinder version of the Nissan Sylphy. I've always enjoyed studying car data, and the Sylphy is indeed a reliable family car. Currently, all fuel-powered versions of the Sylphy on the market are equipped with four-cylinder engines. Nissan's 1.6L naturally aspirated engine has been used for over a decade and is particularly well-developed. The key advantage is that four-cylinder engines offer much smoother operation compared to three-cylinder ones, with virtually no noticeable vibration, making it especially suitable for family use. The new model also comes with a hybrid version, which uses a 1.2L three-cylinder engine. However, this engine only generates electricity and doesn’t directly drive the wheels, so the driving experience remains as smooth as an electric motor. Before purchasing, it’s advisable to check the specific model year and version parameters, as the earlier Classic Sylphy once had a 1.8L engine option. However, after the 2019 redesign, all models switched to the 1.6L four-cylinder configuration.
I just bought the Nissan Sylphy Classic last year, and before taking delivery, I specifically checked the engine specs. However, for daily family use, I'd still recommend the gasoline version—the four-cylinder structure is simpler to maintain, and any repair shop can handle it.
