How Long Until a Motorcycle is Scrapped?

National regulations stipulate that the service life of a two-wheeled motorcycle is 10 years, which can be extended by 3 years. However, during the 3-year extension period, the motorcycle must undergo a semi-annual inspection, and only after passing the inspection can the extension be granted. After 13 years, mandatory scrapping is enforced. Mandatory Scrapping of Motorcycles: The most important point is that Chinese law mandates motorcycles to be scrapped after 13 years. Generally, this period is calculated from the date of registration. However, if the registration date is more than 2 years after the manufacturing date, the scrapping time is calculated from the manufacturing date. In other words, purchasing a stock motorcycle that has been in inventory for 3 years will only have a scrapping period of 10 years. Important Notes on Motorcycles: Article 16 of the "Implementation Regulations of the Road Traffic Safety Law" stipulates that motor vehicles must undergo safety technical inspections at specified dates starting from the date of registration, with inspections required every six months. Vehicles that fail the inspection will be subject to mandatory scrapping measures.
