How long should I wait to wash my car after applying PPF?

After applying paint protection film (PPF), it is recommended not to wash the car for at least one week. This is because the installation process involves using a solution for shaping, which requires time to evaporate. Immediately after PPF application, the adhesive and the car's paint have not fully bonded, and even the edges are not completely secured. If water accumulates during this period, it may cause the film to shift, especially when using high-pressure water jets during washing, which can lift the edges and damage the film. Once properly applied, PPF effectively protects the car's paint from aging, discoloration, and cracking. It also prevents minor scratches from damaging the original paint. Note: If bubbles or water spots appear within 1-2 months after PPF installation, do not attempt to fix them yourself. Minor bubbles are a normal part of the moisture evaporation process. Instead, contact the installation shop for professional assistance from a PPF technician.
After applying the car wrap, it is recommended to wait at least seven days before washing the car. This is because the adhesive used for the wrap hasn't fully cured right after application. Washing the car at this stage with a high-pressure water jet can easily cause the edges to lift, leading to peeling or even water bubbles under the wrap. I've seen many people who couldn't wait that long, only to find their wrap deformed after washing, requiring costly reapplication. So, be patient and allow a full week for the adhesive to dry completely. When washing, avoid automatic car washes as the rotating brushes can scratch the new wrap. Opt for hand washing instead, and instruct the washer to avoid spraying water directly at the edges. Choose a neutral car wash solution, as strong alkaline cleaners can corrode the surface of the wrap.
