How Long is the Time Limit for Driver's License Renewal?

According to the regulations on the application and use of driver's licenses, motor vehicle drivers should apply for license renewal at the vehicle management office where the license was issued within 90 days before the expiration of the current license. If the license has expired for less than one year, it can still be renewed normally. However, if it has been over one year without renewal, the license will be revoked. The required documents for renewal are as follows: 1. "Motor Vehicle Driver's License Application Form," which must be signed by the applicant: the motor vehicle driver's license; 2. Proof of identity of the motor vehicle driver (original and photocopy): if the applicant cannot be present, a jointly signed application form by the applicant and the agent, along with the identity proofs of both (original and photocopy), must be submitted; 3. Medical certificate: a health condition certificate issued by a county-level or higher medical institution or a military medical institution at or above the regimental level. For those applying for a special small automatic passenger vehicle for the disabled, a health condition certificate issued by a specialized medical institution designated by the provincial health authority must be submitted; 4. Photo requirements for the motor vehicle driver: three recent color passport-style photos (taken within the last six months), with a white background, showing the front view of the applicant's upper body without a hat, and not wearing any uniform clothing.
