The license plate is retained for six months after cancellation. Canceling a vehicle license plate: A vehicle license plate can be canceled, but the vehicle must have been registered under the owner's name for at least three years. Bring the vehicle license to the traffic police department to apply. There are only two scenarios where a license plate may be canceled: vehicle scrapping or vehicle transfer.
