How long can the A2 driver's license annual review be overdue without consequences?

For an A2 driver's license, the annual review can be conducted within one year after expiration without incurring a fine. However, driving is not allowed during the overdue period. If the driver's license is not renewed for more than one year but less than three years after expiration, the vehicle management office will cancel the driver's license, but the cancellation is reversible. If the license is overdue for more than three years, it will be permanently canceled, and the driver must retake all four driving tests (Subjects 1, 2, 3, and 4) to regain driving privileges. Drivers must comply with laws and regulations by regularly undergoing reviews at the traffic management department of the public security authorities. Similarly, when renewing a driver's license under Articles 57 and 58 of these regulations, drivers must undergo a review by the traffic management department. Generally, driver's licenses below Class C do not require annual reviews; only Class A and B licenses do. However, Class C or lower licenses must undergo a review if the driver is involved in a fatal traffic accident and bears equal or greater responsibility without having their license revoked. Class A and B license holders must undergo an annual review within 30 days after the end of each scoring cycle. However, if there are no demerit points recorded during a scoring cycle, the review for that cycle is waived. If demerit points are recorded, an annual review is required. The annual review for driver's licenses includes the following: According to Article 71 of the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses," the review covers traffic violations, accident handling records, physical condition, demerit points, and participation in study and tests after accumulating 12 points. Holders of licenses for large buses, tractors, city buses, medium-sized buses, or large trucks who accumulate demerit points in a scoring cycle, as well as holders of other license classes involved in fatal accidents bearing equal or greater responsibility without license revocation, must attend at least three hours of study on traffic laws, safe driving practices, and emergency response, along with case-based safety education. Reviews will not be approved for those with unresolved traffic violations or accidents, physical conditions unfit for driving, or failure to attend required study, education, or tests.
