Opened motor oil can be stored for six months to one year. Below are precautions for using motor oil: 1. Gasoline engine oil cannot be used in diesel engines: Special gasoline engine oil should not replace diesel engine oil to avoid accelerating wear in diesel engines. Gasoline engine oil and diesel engine oil should, in principle, be used separately. Only when the automobile manufacturer provides substitution instructions or the oil is labeled as suitable for both gasoline and diesel engines can it be substituted or used within the specified grade range. 2. Motor oil viscosity should be as low as possible: Under the premise of ensuring reliable lubrication for the engine, the viscosity of the oil should be as low as possible. High-viscosity oil is only suitable for severely worn engines or for use in southern summers. Using excessively high-viscosity oil will increase the resistance during engine operation, thereby increasing fuel consumption. 3. Adhere to the principle of economy and practicality: When selecting the grade of motor oil, high-grade oil can be used in engines with lower requirements, but excessive downgrading is not economical.
