How Long Can a Vehicle Dash Cam Record?

The recording duration of a vehicle dash cam is determined by its memory size. The larger the memory, the longer the storage time. Taking 1080P video quality as an example, a 16G memory card can typically record for 100 minutes, a 32G memory card for 200 minutes, and a 64G memory card for 400 minutes. Dash cams record in a loop. When the memory card is full, newly recorded videos will directly overwrite the oldest video segments, specifically those furthest from the current time. The advantage of this mechanism is that it prevents the inability to continue recording due to insufficient storage space. The duration a dash cam can save recordings also depends on the memory card's capacity and the resolution of the recorded video. Most dash cams are set to loop recording, automatically overwriting the earliest, non-locked videos when the memory is full. If the memory card is small and the recording resolution is high, it may not be able to save recordings for even three days.
