How Long Can a Vehicle Be Overdue for Inspection?

Car inspection can be conducted regardless of how long it has been overdue. However, if the vehicle misses inspections for three consecutive inspection cycles, it will face mandatory scrapping. Three consecutive annual inspection cycles do not necessarily mean three years; this is calculated based on the vehicle's actual inspection cycle. For example, cars over 15 years old require a semi-annual inspection. If the owner fails to inspect the vehicle for three consecutive times (i.e., within one and a half years), it will be subject to mandatory scrapping. Penalties for overdue vehicle inspection: 1. If the inspection is overdue for less than three months, the owner can simply make up for it and will receive a verbal warning without a fine; 2. If the inspection is overdue for more than three months but less than two years, a fine ranging from 50 to 200 yuan will be imposed, along with a 3-point deduction; 3. If the vehicle has not been inspected for more than two years, its registration will be revoked, and fines are usually required for reinstatement; 4. Driving without a timely annual inspection is considered illegal and may result in vehicle impoundment; 5. If a vehicle fails to obtain the mandatory inspection certificate for three consecutive inspection cycles, it will be forcibly scrapped.
