How Long Can a Motor Vehicle's Annual Inspection Be Overdue?

Motor vehicle annual inspections are not allowed to be overdue. For vehicles that fail to undergo the annual inspection on time, the driver will be fined and receive a 3-point penalty. In the event of any traffic accident caused by a vehicle that has not undergone the annual inspection on time, the responsible party will bear full or primary liability, and the insurance company will not provide compensation. Motor vehicles should undergo safety technical inspections within the following periods from the date of registration: 1. For passenger vehicles used for commercial purposes, inspections are required once a year within the first 5 years, and every 6 months thereafter; 2. For cargo vehicles and large or medium-sized non-commercial passenger vehicles, inspections are required once a year within the first 10 years, and every 6 months thereafter; 3. For small and mini non-commercial passenger vehicles, inspections are required once every 2 years within the first 6 years, once a year thereafter, and every 6 months after 15 years.
