How Long After Painting Can You Polish?

Polishing can be done 3 to 7 days after painting. Washing the car is possible 24 hours after painting. Generally, under standard painting processes, the paint surface can be touched after 2 hours, and by 24 hours, the paint hardness reaches about 80%, making it safe to wash the car. The polishing method involves: 1. Washing the entire vehicle with a high-degreasing paint cleaner, avoiding the creation of new scratches by abrasive particles during cleaning; 2. For paint surfaces with defects like coarse particles, fine sandpaper marks, or flow marks, gently sand them flat using water sandpaper wrapped around a small rubber block before polishing; 3. Using a mechanical grinder (electric or pneumatic) with coarse polishing compound to rough grind the sandpaper marks, followed by mechanical polishing.
