How long after obtaining a driver's license can you take the motorcycle license test?

You must complete the one-year probationary period and accumulate no more than 12 penalty points during that year before you can take the motorcycle license test. Motorcycle license upgrade: Having a C1 license only qualifies you to drive four-wheeled vehicles. If you want to obtain a motorcycle license, you must upgrade your C1 license to include one of the DEF categories (note: F is only for light motorcycles, so practically useful options are either D or E). Upgrade regulations: The traffic violation point accumulation cycle (i.e., scoring cycle) is 12 months with a maximum of 12 points, calculated from the date of initial issuance of the motor vehicle driver's license. For existing license holders applying to add permitted vehicle types, there must be no record of reaching the maximum penalty points during the most recent scoring cycle prior to application.
