I've driven a car with the 4G18TDC engine for eight years, and this machine is truly durable. Although the cast iron cylinder block is heavier than aluminum, its heat dissipation and durability are impeccable. Mitsubishi's early turbo technology was tuned conservatively, delivering a maximum power of around 90kW but producing 180N·m of torque at low RPMs, making it particularly responsive at traffic lights. However, be aware that the older turbo solenoid valves are prone to carbon buildup, so I recommend having the mechanic clean them with carburetor cleaner during every maintenance. My car now has 130,000 kilometers on it, and apart from replacing the turbo pipe, the engine has never been opened up.
