How is road rage punished?

For road rage and malicious lane-cutting behaviors, the specific penalty depends on the severity of the circumstances, as well as the impact and consequences caused. If the circumstances are not severe and no serious consequences occur, it generally results in detention for up to 15 days along with corresponding fines. If a traffic accident occurs due to road rage and malicious lane-cutting, the perpetrator will bear primary or full responsibility for the accident and face criminal liability. Additional information: If malicious lane-cutting leads to a major traffic accident causing serious injury, death, or significant damage to public or private property, it constitutes the crime of causing traffic casualties, punishable by up to 3 years of imprisonment or detention. If the perpetrator flees after a major accident, it constitutes the crime of hit-and-run, punishable by 3 to 7 years of imprisonment. If the hit-and-run results in death, the penalty is 7 years or more of imprisonment.
