Has the Night Driving Test for Subject 3 Been Canceled?

Starting from April 1st, the night driving test for Subject 3 has been canceled. Previously, the night test was a component of the actual road test for Subject 3. However, according to regulations, different vehicle types had varying proportions of night test requirements, so not everyone would take the nighttime road driving test. Instead, candidates were selected by proportion to participate, primarily assessing their use of vehicle lights. Below are precautions for using lights during the night test: Use low beams: Remember to turn on the headlights when starting the vehicle; when meeting another vehicle at a distance of about 150 meters, use low beams; when following a vehicle ahead, use low beams; light switching: Continuously alternate between high and low beams when approaching intersections, pedestrians ahead, or curves.
I just passed my driving test (Subject 3) not long ago. In our area, the night test has indeed been canceled. The test center explained this as a policy change to simplify the process, integrating nighttime driving skills into daytime testing—like having me simulate turning on headlights or demonstrating beam-changing operations. I find this quite convenient, as it saves a lot of time and energy by not having to take the test late at night. However, as a new driver, I’m a bit concerned about my nighttime driving skills getting rusty, since visibility is lower at night and proper headlight use is crucial. During practice, I made sure to find extra time to drive at night a few more times. The policy change seems reasonable, and I’ve heard many cities are doing the same, responding to students’ calls to speed up the licensing process. Still, individuals need to pay extra attention to safe driving knowledge to avoid issues when actually driving.
