Subject 2 hill start has been canceled, effective from June 1, 2021. The following is a detailed introduction about the hill start: Rules: The timing of the hill start begins from the start. When driving, you must decisively pull the handbrake and step on the foot brake, then release the clutch to shake, and release the brake. The start must not exceed 30 seconds. If the start time exceeds 30 seconds, 100 points will be deducted. Notes: After the vehicle stops, if the front bumper of the car or the front axle of the motorcycle is not fixed on the pile line, and the front and rear exceed 50 cm, it is unqualified; after the vehicle stops, if the front bumper of the car or the front axle of the motorcycle is not fixed on the pile line, and the front and rear do not exceed 50 cm, 20 points will be deducted.
I recently discussed this topic with friends when talking about the driving test. The hill start in Subject 2 has indeed been adjusted in many places, but it's not a nationwide cancellation. For example, when I checked the new regulations online last year, I found that in some cities like Beijing and Shanghai, this part has been simplified for automatic transmission tests, but it's mostly retained for manual transmission. Even if it's not included in the test, I strongly recommend not skipping this skill when learning to drive, because it can prevent rollback accidents, especially on steep slopes or in traffic jams. I once made a mistake when starting on a slope with a manual transmission car and almost hit the car behind me. Since then, I've practiced more on the simulator and now feel much more confident. In actual driving, the hill start technique is related to safety, and ignoring it can lead to serious accidents. Coaches often say this is a fundamental skill that can't be taken lightly.
