Doors repeatedly auto-lock and unlock?

Press the unlock button twice to deactivate the security system. If it doesn't deactivate, within 30 seconds after pressing the unlock button, turn the key to ACC ON position and then back, and it will work. After turning off the engine and removing the key, if you don't remotely lock the doors, they won't auto-lock even after an extended period. If you accidentally press the unlock button on the remote while locking, the doors will auto-relock shortly when unoccupied. This feature cancels if someone opens a door.
After decades of driving, this is the first time I've encountered doors opening and closing by themselves—it's downright spooky! Initially, I thought the remote was faulty, but replacing the batteries didn't help. Upon inspection, it turned out the contacts in the door lock switch had oxidized, and rainwater had seeped in, causing erratic electrical currents. The mechanic mentioned this type of malfunction is common in humid weather and requires cleaning the circuits or replacing parts. For safety, never attempt repairs while driving; it's best to pull over and check. Regular maintenance, like wiping door seams, can prevent such odd occurrences. I recommend addressing the issue early to avoid midnight surprises.
