Does Volkswagen Use Wet or Dry Clutches?
1 Answers
Volkswagen uses both dry and wet clutches. The dry clutch uses air to cool the clutch, while the wet clutch is submerged in oil along with the gear wheels. Functions of Dry Clutch: Dry clutches have high transmission efficiency and are commonly used in most cars. They are rarely found in commercially available motorcycles, with Ducati being a notable exception. Dry clutches experience more wear during semi-engagement and produce noticeable noise at idle. Differences Between Dry and Wet Clutches: Dry clutches require frequent gear shifting during use. Unless the driver is highly skilled, the handling of dry clutches is generally inferior to that of wet clutches.
