I've been driving the Wuling Zhiguang for five years. The base model of the old version really didn't have air conditioning, which made summers particularly unbearable, especially when delivering goods—the heat inside the car was overwhelming. However, newer models like the Wuling Zhiguang V come standard with manual air conditioning, which is easy to operate with simple buttons. Without air conditioning, your driving or passenger experience would be much worse, and it would be especially inconvenient to take kids out in the heat. From an economic perspective, the base model saves money, but adding air conditioning is more practical. Maintaining the AC isn't troublesome either—regularly cleaning the filter or checking the refrigerant can prevent issues. Overall, I recommend opting for a configuration with air conditioning, even if it means adding it later, because the Wuling Zhiguang has ample space, and air conditioning makes it much more comfortable.
