Does the Volkswagen CC Shooting Brake have a particulate filter?

Volkswagen CC Shooting Brake is equipped with a particulate filter. The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is a ceramic filter installed in the exhaust system of diesel engines, which captures particulate emissions before they enter the atmosphere. Its function is to filter out tiny particles in the exhaust gases. When a certain amount of particles accumulates, it automatically burns off the captured particles, thus achieving a continuous working cycle. The diesel particulate filter effectively reduces particulate emissions by first capturing the particles in the exhaust and then oxidizing them to regenerate the filter. The regeneration of the filter refers to the process where, during long-term operation of the DPF, the accumulation of particles gradually increases the backpressure in the engine, leading to a decline in engine performance. Therefore, it is necessary to periodically remove the deposited particles to restore the DPF's filtering performance. A clogged particulate filter can reduce vehicle power. Some vehicle models, upon detecting a clogged particulate filter, will automatically reduce the power output of the diesel engine. Additionally, significant exhaust resistance can also weaken the vehicle's power performance.
I've been driving the CC Shooting Brake for a while now, and I can personally confirm it's equipped with a particulate filter. The salesperson told me when I bought it that the car meets China 6B emission standards, so this device is mandatory. During daily city commutes, I don't notice it at all. Once on the highway, a yellow warning light suddenly popped up on the dashboard, and I thought there was an engine issue. The diagnosis showed a slight blockage in the particulate filter. Now, I've made it a habit to deliberately floor it on the highway every few weeks to let the engine run at high RPMs for a while. After all, the particulate filter in the exhaust pipe is responsible for collecting carbon particles. If it gets clogged, not only does it restrict power output, but it also causes fuel consumption to skyrocket to over 10 liters per 100 km.
Having worked at a 4S dealership for these years, I've handled quite a few Volkswagen models. I can guarantee that all CC Shooting Brake versions come equipped with a particulate filter. After the China VI emission standards, manufacturers had to install it, otherwise the vehicle would definitely fail inspection due to excessive exhaust particulates. This device is located right behind the three-way catalytic converter. When driving habits are too gentle, it tends to accumulate excessive particulates. The most frequent issue we deal with is a completely clogged particulate filter. In such cases, we can only use diagnostic equipment to force a regeneration. I recommend owners take their cars on the highway for about 20 minutes each month, and using the S gear to increase RPM works even better.
