Does the Tiguan consume engine oil?
1 Answers
Tiguan may experience engine oil consumption due to factors such as fuel quality, carbon deposits, and wear, which can affect driving performance and lead to insufficient engine power. Since domestic fuel quality does not meet international standards, it is highly prone to forming significant carbon deposits in the combustion chamber during engine operation. Carbon deposits are the root cause of various engine issues. They accumulate in the piston grooves, causing the piston rings to stick together. This prevents the piston rings from sealing properly, significantly reducing their oil-scraping and sealing capabilities. Additionally, sludge can clog the oil return holes, preventing normal oil circulation and leading to increased oil consumption. Oil consumption further exacerbates wear between the pistons and cylinder walls, creating excessive gaps that allow oil to enter the combustion chamber. Over time, the front and rear crankshaft oil seals age due to prolonged and extensive contact with oil. The impurities in the oil and continuous temperature changes within the engine gradually weaken their sealing effectiveness, resulting in oil seepage or leakage. Maintaining clean fuel pathways is highly beneficial in preventing oil consumption. Using high-quality fuel additives and premium-grade engine oil can also help delay this phenomenon.
