The Teramont V6 4WD Luxury Edition is equipped with a six-cylinder engine. Currently, the Teramont offers three powertrain options: a high/low-power version of the 2.0T inline four-cylinder gasoline engine and a 2.5T V6 gasoline engine, all paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. More details about the Teramont are as follows: 1. The Teramont is a new large SUV under SAIC . In terms of dimensions, the new vehicle measures 5039mm in length, 1989mm in width, 1773mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2980mm. 2. The Teramont is equipped with the 4Motion intelligent all-wheel-drive system, which can seamlessly adjust the torque distribution between the front and rear wheels, providing excellent off-road capability. Additionally, the Teramont offers eight driving modes, allowing drivers to switch freely among five road modes (Eco, Standard, Comfort, Sport, Custom), two off-road modes (Off-road, Off-road Custom), and one snow mode. 3. In terms of exterior design, the SAIC Volkswagen Teramont draws heavily from the CrossBlue concept car, presenting a very robust appearance. Details include a dual-slat chrome grille that extends into the headlights. The interior features very straight-line design elements, also inspired by the CrossBlue concept car. The new vehicle comes with a three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel.

I remember test driving the Atlas Family Edition last year. This model has a VR6 variant in the North American market, with a 3.6L engine that's exceptionally quiet and smooth. Driving it with seven seats uphill was effortless. However, all models currently sold in China are equipped with 2.0T four-cylinder engines, available in high and low power versions. Nowadays, automakers mainly promote small-displacement turbocharged engines, and competitors like the Highlander have also discontinued their 3.5L V6 versions. If you're looking for the driving feel of a six-cylinder engine, you might consider the older 3.0T Touareg, which shares the same MLB platform chassis and offers excellent stability at high speeds.

The Touareg no longer offers a six-cylinder version now, with the entire lineup featuring the EA888 2.0T engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Back in the 2018 model year, there was a 530 V6 variant, but its pricing of over 300,000 RMB was nearly 100,000 more expensive than the four-cylinder models. Even Volkswagen's Touareg now primarily focuses on the 2.0T engine, and the Q7 has also discontinued its six-cylinder entry-level version. If you're really set on a six-cylinder, I'd recommend checking out the Ford Explorer or Cadillac XT6 instead. Although they're pricier than the Touareg, their 3.0T power reserves are on a completely different level.

The Touareg has an overseas version equipped with a 3.6L VR6 engine, delivering 295 horsepower with a trailer hitch interface. Unfortunately, when this generation was introduced domestically, discontinued the six-cylinder production line. I've actually driven the four-cylinder high-power version, and when climbing a slope with seven adults, the engine's roar was noticeably loud. The new Teramont shares the same platform as the Touareg but also lacks a six-cylinder engine. If you really want a factory six-cylinder, you can wait for the Audi Q6 or check out the GLC AMG43. With enough budget, choosing the imported version won't disappoint.

I've driven the old 3.2L Touareg, and the smoothness of that six-cylinder engine is something a four-cylinder just can't match. Now the Touareg is targeting the family market with a 2.0T engine - the high-power 220hp version is adequate for city driving, but struggles when fully loaded on highway overtakes. Recently while helping a friend car shop, I noticed the Palisade offers a 3.5L V6 at similar pricing to the Touareg. If you're particularly keen on six-cylinder engines, you might want to check out used Touareg 530 models - the third-gen EA837 supercharged engines are currently going for around 200,000 yuan on the used market.
