Does the Tayron have underbody armor?

Tayron does not come with underbody armor. Functions of underbody armor: The primary purpose of underbody armor is to protect the chassis from damage caused by flying gravel and uneven road surfaces. Its integrated features of sound insulation, impact resistance, and rust prevention can indeed save owners significant costs on future chassis repairs. Method for applying underbody armor to Volkswagen Tayron: After lifting and securing the vehicle, use a rust remover to spray any rusty areas on the chassis and then wipe dry. First, apply the initial coat of underbody coating evenly across the surface. One bottle won't be sufficient, so apply additional bottles as needed. After completing the coating process, allow the vehicle to dry.
The Tayron does come with anti-rust coating on some underbody areas ex-factory, but strictly speaking it's not a complete underbody protection. When I lifted my car last year (purchased last year), I noticed only thin factory coating near wheel arches and exhaust pipes - metal parts rust easily especially during southern rainy seasons. Later I spent about 800 yuan applying polyurethane armor, like putting a raincoat on the chassis. Now no more stone pinging noises on rough roads, and sound insulation improved significantly. Recommend installing right after purchase, especially crucial for coastal areas or northern regions using road salt.
The matter of underbody armor depends on how you look at it. The factory-installed underbody of the Tayron has basic rustproofing treatment, but the thickness and coverage are just passable. Having run my own repair shop for ten years, I've seen dozens of cases where unprotected Tayron underbodies rusted through the fuel lines. For added armor, rubber or resin materials work best—don't skimp and use asphalt-based ones, as they can melt in summer heat. Focus the application on the four wheel wells and suspension connection points, as these are the weakest spots from the factory.
