The Shadow Leopard does not have an engine guard plate, nor does it have side guard plates for the chassis, but the exhaust heat insulation is relatively complete. Appearance Introduction: In terms of appearance, the GAC Trumpchi Shadow Leopard adopts the "Light Sculpture Surface" design language, offering two exterior styles: the sport version and the luxury version. The body dimensions are 4700mm1850mm1432mm. Specifically, the sport version features a large hexagonal front grille with a vertical waterfall-style design inside. Additionally, there are two blue polygonal decorative pieces inside the grille, resembling air intakes of fighter jets, and they are accented with carbon fiber-like materials. Configuration Parameters: The Shadow Leopard is equipped with the all-new third-generation 1.5TGDI engine from the Power of Waves series, delivering a maximum power of 130kW and a peak torque of 270N.m. With GCCS technology at its core, it integrates dual-path turbocharging, top-mounted water-cooled intercooler, high-pressure injection, large-inertia balance shaft, intelligent thermal management, and low-friction technology, achieving a fuel consumption as low as 5.7L per 100km. The transmission efficiency is as high as 96%, with a shift time of only 0.2 seconds. In the 0-100km/h acceleration test, the fastest recorded time was 6.95 seconds.

When I first bought the Yingbao, I specifically checked the undercarriage. The factory indeed didn't come with an engine guard plate, which the salesperson clearly mentioned during the 4S store inspection. However, the dealership offered installation services, and I spent a little over 300 yuan to install a plastic-steel guard plate. Now, I don't worry at all about scraping the undercarriage on rough roads, and mud or stones don't splash up either. In fact, many car owners buy guard plates online and have them installed at repair shops, with steel ones costing just over 200 yuan. The key is to ensure there's enough space left for engine sagging during installation, something experienced modification shops are well aware of. Although guard plates aren't expensive, they're extremely practical. I recommend new car buyers to install one right after purchase. After all, repairing a damaged undercarriage costs much more than a guard plate.

A friend drove the Emgrand GS to Tibet for a self-driving trip and complained to me about the insufficient factory-installed underbody protection. To be honest, most cars in the 100,000-yuan price range don't come with an engine guard plate, as manufacturers mainly consider cost control. I've studied the Emgrand GS's underbody structure, and the longitudinal beams have reserved mounting holes for guard plates, indicating that the design considered aftermarket installation. Plastic-steel guard plates are lightweight and rust-proof but have average strength, while aluminum alloy ones offer better protection but cost twice as much. If you frequently drive on construction sites or dirt roads, I strongly recommend installing a thick one. For daily city commuting, it's actually fine to go without one, as the Emgrand GS has a ground clearance of 150mm. However, be extra cautious during the rainy season on low-lying roads—damaging the oil pan would cost much more than a guard plate.

Watched the process of a 4S shop mechanic installing an underguard for the Emgrand. The factory condition only has a thin layer of anti-rust coating, which really can't withstand stone pits and bumps. There are three key points to note when installing an underguard: first, choose plastic-steel material to avoid resonance, with a thickness of 2.5mm being sufficient; second, always opt for one specifically molded for the vehicle, otherwise it may affect engine cooling; third, use anti-loosening bolts. Actually, the most noticeable effect after installation is that the engine bay becomes much cleaner. During the last maintenance when the underguard was removed, there was even less dust inside compared to vehicles without one. The mechanic mentioned that the underguard also prevents mice from getting in and chewing on the wiring harness, which is especially practical in humid southern regions. It's recommended to have the 4S shop install it during the first maintenance service.
