Does the new X-Trail 4S need to install the original tire pressure monitoring system?

The new X-Trail 4S does not need to install the original tire pressure monitoring system. Tire pressure monitoring is designed to automatically monitor tire pressure in real-time during driving and alert the driver in case of tire leaks or low pressure to ensure driving safety. There are three commonly used types of tire pressure monitoring systems: Direct Tire Pressure Monitoring: Direct tire pressure monitoring devices use pressure sensors installed in each tire to directly measure tire pressure. The pressure information is transmitted wirelessly from inside the tire to a central receiver module, which then displays the pressure data for each tire. The system automatically alerts the driver if the tire pressure is too low or if there is a leak. Indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring: When the pressure in a tire decreases, the vehicle's weight causes the rolling radius of that tire to become smaller, resulting in a faster rotation speed compared to the other wheels. By comparing the differences in rotation speeds between tires, the system monitors tire pressure. Indirect tire pressure alert systems essentially rely on calculating the rolling radius of the tires to monitor pressure. Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Introduction: This system combines the advantages of both the above systems. It is equipped with direct sensors in two diagonally opposite tires and includes a 4-wheel indirect system. Compared to a fully direct system, this hybrid system reduces costs and overcomes the limitation of indirect systems, which cannot detect when multiple tires simultaneously have low pressure. However, it still cannot provide real-time pressure data for all four tires as effectively as a direct system.
From a safe driving perspective, if the new X-Trail doesn't come with factory-installed tire pressure monitoring, I strongly recommend installing the OEM version. With several years of driving experience, I can say abnormal tire pressure is one of the main causes of blowouts, which can lead to skidding or even rollovers. The factory system integrates directly with the vehicle dashboard, displaying real-time data - much more convenient than manual checks, especially providing early warnings during highway driving. Third-party products may be cheaper but are prone to false alarms or compatibility issues, and their failure could cause trouble. The installation cost at a 4S shop ranges from a few hundred to over a thousand yuan - absolutely worthwhile compared to accident repair costs. Maintenance is also simple, eliminating constant worries about tire pressure changes affecting fuel consumption. Safety comes first - this investment is well worth it.
