Does the new Qashqai have a particulate filter?

New Qashqai has a particulate filter. Function of the particulate filter: The particulate filter can reduce the soot produced by diesel engines by more than 90%, and the captured particulate emissions are subsequently burned off during vehicle operation. Principle of the particulate filter: The diesel particulate filter is coated with platinum, rhodium, and palladium. The black smoke containing carbon particles emitted by the diesel engine enters the engine exhaust particulate trap through a dedicated pipeline. After passing through its densely arranged bag filter, the carbon smoke particles are adsorbed on the filter made of metal fiber felt. When the adsorption of particles reaches a certain level, the burner at the end automatically ignites and burns, turning the adsorbed carbon smoke particles into harmless carbon dioxide that is then emitted.
I just picked up the new Qashqai and have been driving it for a few months. I can confirm it indeed comes equipped with a particulate filter, commonly known as the GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) device. This is because emission regulations are becoming increasingly stringent, with the China 6b standard requiring gasoline vehicles to install this component to capture fine particles in exhaust gases and reduce pollution. Normally, you don’t feel much difference while driving, but during highway cruising, you can noticeably feel cleaner emissions. It’s recommended to regularly maintain and inspect it to prevent carbon buildup from clogging and affecting performance. If any issues arise, the 4S shop usually offers free cleaning. Overall, the Qashqai’s power response remains smooth, and with the GPF installed, there’s no significant increase in fuel consumption, making it quite suitable for daily family use. However, during cold starts in winter, a fault light might come on, requiring a reset at the dealership. All in all, having a GPF is a good thing—it’s eco-friendly and hassle-free.
As a long-time auto plant worker, I can confirm the new Qashqai definitely comes with a gasoline particulate filter (GPF) – it's standard on all China VI models. This device is installed downstream in the exhaust pipe, specifically designed to filter carbon monoxide particles. The system incorporates regeneration technology that automatically cleans itself at high RPMs. However, frequent short-distance driving can lead to clogging, requiring manual regeneration. During maintenance, avoid using low-quality fuel to prevent catalytic converter damage. Regarding other aspects, the Qashqai's engine and chassis tuning remain excellent – the GPF doesn't compromise driving dynamics. Cost-wise, the addition caused minimal price increase for new vehicles, with replacement parts costing around several thousand yuan, which is reasonable. I recommend new owners check the manual to locate the GPF and address any issues promptly. Overall, it's mature technology – nothing to worry about excessively.
