Does the Mondeo Have a Particulate Filter?

The Mondeo does not have a particulate filter. A particulate filter can reduce the particles in engine exhaust emissions, recycle them, decrease vehicle exhaust emissions, enhance the environmental friendliness of the vehicle, and reduce atmospheric pollution. To check whether a vehicle is equipped with a particulate filter, you can use the following three methods: 1. Check the Owner's Maintenance Manual and the Owner's User Manual to see if there is a particulate filter function. Additionally, carefully review the fault codes in the manual to check if there is a "Particulate Filter" warning light indicator. 2. Check the label on the oil filler cap. If the oil cap clearly states 0W-20 grade oil, it indicates that the vehicle is equipped with a particulate filter. 3. Look behind the three-way catalytic converter to see if there is a cylindrical section on the exhaust pipe. If present, that is the particulate filter. Location of the Particulate Filter: The particulate filter is located behind the three-way catalytic converter and in front of the muffler, surrounded by the front and rear oxygen sensors.
I recently studied the Mondeo's configurations and found that particulate filters were basically absent in China V models, but all China VI versions produced after 2019 come equipped with them. To meet stricter environmental standards, Ford installed this ceramic filter in the exhaust system. When using my car, I paid special attention to the manual, which clearly states that models with GPF require low-ash engine oil to prevent clogging. During my last maintenance visit to the dealership, the technician also reminded me to occasionally drive on highways to raise exhaust temperatures, which helps burn off accumulated particulates. If you frequently make short trips, the dashboard might display a regeneration warning light. Essentially, this device acts like a mask for exhaust emissions. As long as owners follow maintenance guidelines, it shouldn't cause issues, and you usually won't even notice it working.
