Does the Mercedes-Benz E-Class have a hold function?

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class series all come equipped with the hold function. How to use the hold function: After pressing the brake and waiting for the car to come to a complete stop, do not lift your foot. Press down further on the brake pedal with additional force. If successful, the instrument panel will display 'hold,' at which point you can release your foot, and the vehicle will remain in a continuous braking state. The hold function can be deactivated by shifting into P gear, pressing the brake pedal sharply again, or lightly tapping the accelerator. Shifting to neutral when waiting for signals: When using the automatic parking function, if the waiting time is long, it is recommended to switch to N gear. This is because when the automatic parking is engaged, the power is not completely cut off, resembling a semi-engaged state. Therefore, the mutual tension between the transmission and the brake can cause some damage to vehicle components. Hence, for prolonged red lights, and to be more environmentally friendly and reduce wear on the transmission system, it is better for automatic transmission models to shift directly into N gear.
As a daily driver of a Mercedes-Benz E-Class, I find the Hold function really thoughtful. It's the automatic parking system that activates with a light brake press at red lights or in traffic jams, allowing you to release the pedal without the car moving, so you don't have to keep pressing the brake pedal, reducing foot fatigue. My car is the 2020 E300L Luxury model, which comes standard with this feature, and it's simple to operate: after stopping, press the brake pedal firmly, and the dashboard will display 'HOLD', indicating activation; pressing the accelerator will then move the car. For city driving, this greatly enhances comfort, especially relieving fatigue during long traffic jams. However, note that you must fasten your seatbelt to use it, otherwise, it won't trigger. Overall, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class generally comes with this feature, which is very practical and worth trying.
