The Mazda3 Axela is available in both sedan and hatchback versions. As a model under the brand, it serves as the successor to the Mazda3. The vehicle is equipped with two naturally aspirated engine options: a 1.5-liter engine delivering a maximum power of 86 kW and peak torque of 148 Nm, and a 2.0-liter engine producing 116 kW maximum power and 202 Nm peak torque. The Axela features a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link independent rear suspension.

When I was researching cars to buy, I also looked into the Mazda3 Axela. Their sedan version is quite common. mainly promotes sedan models in China, and there are several white Mazda3 Axela sedans in our neighborhood. The hatchback version is rarely seen now. The last time I went to the dealership for a test drive, the showroom was filled with sedan models. The trunk space is much more practical than the hatchback, easily accommodating a stroller or large suitcase. I think the sedan's side profile is particularly sleek, and the Soul Red Crystal paint really stands out on the road. Many young people opt for the sedan version, and the price is quite affordable.

Recently, I accompanied a friend to check out the Mazda3 Axela. The salesperson mentioned that the entire lineup now consists of sedan versions. The previous generation had hatchback models, but the new version has been redesigned exclusively as sedans. Sitting inside, the space arrangement felt quite reasonable, with the rear seats comfortably accommodating three people without feeling too cramped. During the test drive, I noticed the trunk was deeper than expected, easily fitting two or three large travel bags without any issues. I checked the configuration sheet, and from the base model to the top trim, all variants are sedans with a wide range of color options. Metallic paints like Machine Gray look particularly stylish and durable.

When I was to change cars last year, I did a detailed comparison. The sedan version of the Mazda3 Axela has a relatively long wheelbase in the compact car segment. After adjusting the front seats to a comfortable position, there's still over two fists' worth of legroom in the rear. The trunk dimensions are practical, with a depth of 107 cm and a width of nearly one meter. Although the hatchback version is no longer available, the sedan actually has a more balanced design. Mazda's KODO design paired with the elongated rear gives it a particularly dynamic look from the side, and parked next to a Corolla, it clearly stands out as more stylish.

My colleague drives a sedan version of the Mazda3 Axela. He said he chose this car for its practicality. With a trunk capacity of 419 liters, it's slightly larger than the Sylphy in the same price range, capable of fitting all the family's camping gear on weekends. The rear seats can be folded down entirely, making it convenient for occasionally moving large furniture. For daily school runs with kids, the rear seats securely hold child safety seats without feeling cramped in headroom. He initially considered the Civic but ultimately opted for the Mazda3 Axela sedan, citing its more agile handling.

When taking my dad to look at cars, I specifically paid attention to the details of the Mazda3 sedan. The fastback design of the rear lines creates an exceptionally large trunk opening, making it easy to load even a wheelchair. The door panel storage compartments can hold four water bottles, and the two cup holders on the center console are just right for thermos cups. The chassis tuning balances sportiness and comfort, effectively filtering out vibrations when going over speed bumps, so elderly family members don't get carsick. The salesperson mentioned that the car comes standard with headlights across all trims, providing clear visibility for night driving. Indeed, the sedan version is well-suited for family use.
