The Lamando requires 95 octane or higher unleaded gasoline, as some models mandate the use of 95 octane fuel. Gasoline is categorized into leaded and unleaded types, with another variant being ethanol-blended gasoline. Common gasoline grades include 89, 92, 95, and 98 octane. The Lamando is a compact sedan launched by SAIC Volkswagen, equipped with EA888 TSI and EA211 TSI engines, featuring a wet 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Its body dimensions are 4599mm in length, 1826mm in width, and 1425mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2656mm.

I've been driving my Lamando for over two years now, and fueling it really needs to follow the manual. All Lamando models recommend using 95-octane gasoline, mainly because the 1.4T and 2.0T engines have high compression ratios, and the turbo operates at high temperatures. Once, trying to save money, I filled up with 92-octane, and immediately noticed the engine sound became rougher, and acceleration wasn't as smooth. The mechanic at the repair shop said using lower-octane fuel long-term could easily cause knocking, and in severe cases, damage the catalytic converter. Although 95-octane is a bit more expensive, the cost per kilometer works out about the same, and it protects the engine better. If you ever have to use 92-octane in an emergency, remember to mix it back to 95-octane next time. Nowadays, fuel quality varies greatly at gas stations, so I only fill up with 95-octane from Sinopec or PetroChina.
