Does the BMW X3 have four-wheel drive?

BMW X3 is equipped with four-wheel drive, and the entire BMW X3 lineup comes with an on-demand four-wheel drive system. The on-demand four-wheel drive system only switches to four-wheel drive when necessary, otherwise it remains in two-wheel drive mode. The system automatically switches between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive based on the driving conditions, without requiring manual operation. The BMW X3 is an SUV model with body dimensions of 4648mm in length, 1881mm in width, and 1661mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2810mm. In terms of appearance, the BMW X3 adopts the brand's family styling, similar to the X5, with more chrome and black trim accents.
I remember doing thorough research on the BMW X3's 4WD configuration when car shopping. Currently, almost all X3 models sold in China come standard with the xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, which delivers exceptional stability in daily driving. Especially when cornering in rain or on slippery surfaces, the system intelligently distributes power to all four wheels - you can clearly feel power instantly transferring to the front wheels when rear wheels slip. When I drove a friend's X3 to Tibet and encountered gravel roads, the system automatically switched to 4WD mode, providing much stronger traction than expected. One thing to note though: despite being permanent AWD, it's rear-biased, so fuel consumption is slightly higher than front-wheel-drive models but still acceptable. For regular city commuting you might not notice the difference, but this 4WD system proves extremely practical for northern winters or road trip enthusiasts.
