BMW 530 has heated mirrors. Heated mirror button: The heated mirror function is integrated with the rear window defroster button, which is the square button on the center console. Function of heated mirrors: An electric heating element/film is installed inside the lenses of both side mirrors. In rainy or snowy weather, when the driver activates the mirror heating function, the heating element will quickly warm up to a set temperature (usually between 35-60°C) within minutes, effectively defogging and defrosting the mirrors. Working principle of heated mirrors: The principle is quite simple - an electric heating film is embedded behind the mirror surface, utilizing electrical resistance to generate heat (reaching 35-60°C). This feature is particularly useful in winter or foggy conditions, with minimal effect at normal temperatures. Note that heated mirrors typically don't turn off automatically, so remember to deactivate them to avoid draining the battery. While the power consumption is modest, prolonged use is not recommended to prevent damage to the heating elements.
