Domestic BMW 3 Series models do not have manual transmissions; they are all equipped with a manual-automatic integrated transmission. However, imported 3 Series models do offer manual transmissions, specifically the UK version of the 3 Series. Manual transmission gear selection follows the vehicle speed: When driving, you must start in 1st gear. Between 10 to 20 km/h, you can use either 1st or 2nd gear. Between 20 to 30 km/h, you can use 2nd or 3rd gear. Between 30 to 40 km/h, you can use 3rd or 4th gear. Between 40 to 50 km/h, you can use 4th or 5th gear. Above 50 km/h, use 5th gear. As the speed increases, the gear should also be shifted up accordingly.
