Does the 2022 Tiguan L not have a particulate filter?

The 2022 Tiguan L is equipped with a particulate filter. The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is a ceramic filter installed in the diesel engine's exhaust system, designed to capture particulate emissions before they enter the atmosphere. Its function is to filter out tiny particulate matter from the exhaust. Once a certain accumulation level is reached, it automatically burns off the captured particles, achieving a cyclic operation. The diesel particulate filter effectively reduces particulate emissions by first capturing the particulate matter in the exhaust and then oxidizing the captured particles, thereby regenerating the filter. The so-called filter regeneration refers to the process where, during long-term operation of the DPF, the accumulation of particles inside the filter gradually increases, leading to higher engine backpressure and reduced engine performance. Therefore, it is necessary to periodically remove the deposited particulate matter to restore the DPF's filtering performance. A clogged particulate filter can reduce vehicle power. Some vehicle models, if they detect a clogged particulate filter, will automatically reduce the diesel engine's power output. Additionally, significant exhaust resistance can also weaken the vehicle's power characteristics.
