Polishing does cause some degree of damage to car paint. Polishing refers to a surface finishing method that utilizes mechanical, chemical, or electrochemical actions to reduce surface roughness and achieve a smooth, glossy finish. It involves using polishing tools and abrasive particles or other polishing media to refine the workpiece surface. Although polishing will thin the paint layer, this doesn't mean car paint should never be polished. The paint can withstand a moderate amount of polishing. As a paint care method, polishing helps remove oxidized paint and various contaminants from the vehicle body, eliminates fine scratches, and addresses minor paint damage and stains.
