Not displaying the novice driver sign while driving as a beginner will not result in demerit points but may incur a fine. The relevant regulations are as follows: Mandatory Display of Novice Driver Sign: Article 22 of the "Regulations for the Implementation of the Road Traffic Safety Law" stipulates: The validity period of a motor vehicle driver's license is 6 years. The first 12 months after a motor vehicle driver initially obtains the driver's license is the probationary period. During the probationary period, when driving a motor vehicle, a uniform-style novice driver sign must be affixed or hung at the rear of the vehicle. Prohibition of Driving Alone on Highways: If a driver operates a motor vehicle on a highway during the probationary period, they must be accompanied by a driver who has held a driver's license for the corresponding or a higher vehicle category for more than three years. The accompanying driver should sit in the front passenger seat to guide the probationary driver.
