Does idling with the air conditioning on consume more fuel?

Running the air conditioning while the car is idling does consume more fuel. During idling, the engine has to power the air conditioning compressor, water pump, oil pump, and other components, which results in the wastage of other generated energy. The function of car idling: Idling is an operational state of the car where the engine runs in neutral gear. The engine speed during idling is referred to as the idle speed. The idle speed can be adjusted by modifying the throttle opening size, among other methods. Idling means the engine is "producing power without doing work." When the engine is running, if the accelerator pedal is completely released, the engine enters the idling state. Causes of unstable idling: Direct causes include dirty, worn, or incorrectly installed mechanical parts, leading to variations in the power output of individual cylinders. This creates an imbalance in power among the cylinders, causing the engine to idle unevenly.
