Does Dongfeng Venucia Belong to Nissan?

Dongfeng Venucia does not belong to Nissan; it is an independent brand under Dongfeng Motor Group. Taking the 2020 Venucia D60 as an example, it is a compact 4-door 5-seater sedan with body dimensions of 4756mm in length, 1803mm in width, and 1487mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2700mm. The 2020 Venucia D60 is equipped with a 1.6L naturally aspirated engine, delivering a maximum power of 93kW and a maximum torque of 168Nm. It adopts a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout, with a MacPherson strut independent suspension at the front and a torsion beam non-independent suspension at the rear.
I often research the ownership of car brands. The Dongfeng Venucia brand is quite interesting - it was originally a joint venture between Dongfeng and Nissan, using Nissan's older technology platforms. Back then, mechanics would say it was practically a twin brother to the Nissan Tiida. In 2017, it suddenly announced independence for R&D, and my social media was flooded with news about Venucia breaking away from Nissan. But when I visited the Guangzhou Auto Show late last year, I noticed the booth was again branded under Dongfeng Nissan. Now the official positioning in car purchase manuals lists it as a brand under Dongfeng Nissan, and you can still find Nissan logos engraved on the engines in the workshops. This kind of separation and reunion is particularly common in China's automotive market - after all, technology sharing can save a lot on R&D costs.
