Coasting in neutral does not save fuel. The reasons why it doesn't save fuel and methods to reduce fuel consumption are introduced as follows: Reasons why it doesn't save fuel: Most modern vehicles are equipped with electronic fuel injection technology. When coasting in gear, the engine control unit (ECU) automatically cuts off fuel supply. However, when coasting in neutral, the ECU defaults to idle operation and continues to inject fuel to maintain engine speed. Therefore, coasting in neutral does not save fuel. Methods to reduce fuel consumption: Accelerate gently from a stop; Apply throttle and brakes lightly and brake early; Maintain proper tire pressure; Regularly organize the trunk to reduce unnecessary weight, etc.
