Do you need to press AC for car air conditioning cooling?

To cool the car air conditioning, you need to press the AC button. When using the heater, there is no need to press the AC button because the AC button represents the air conditioning compressor, which is only used when cooling is required. The car air conditioning system includes not only the compressor but also components such as the condenser, evaporator, and expansion valve. The compressor is one of the key components in the cooling system when using cold air. When cooling is needed, the AC button must be pressed; otherwise, the air conditioning system will only operate the blower, delivering air at normal temperature. To use cold air, turn on the air conditioning switch, set the fan to high speed, and adjust the temperature control knob to the cooling zone. After some time, when the interior temperature drops, you can lower the fan speed.
Last time I drove an older car with manual air conditioning to pick up my kids from school, and getting into the car on a 35-degree day felt like stepping into a sauna. Remember to first turn the fan speed knob to turn on the fan, and then be sure to press and illuminate the AC button—that’s how the air conditioning compressor kicks in. Just turning on the fan blows natural air; only after pressing AC will cool air come out of the vents. Also, turn the temperature control knob to the blue zone—red is for warm air. After following these steps, cold air should start blowing in about half a minute. If you forget to press the AC button, you’ll be sweating all the way from the hot air blowing at you.
