Do modern cars need to warm up?

Modern cars do need to warm up. Warming up refers to letting the engine idle in neutral before driving, allowing the engine oil to better lubricate the components and provide protection. Although modern cars have increasingly better configurations, when a car has been parked overnight or for an extended period, it is necessary to warm it up upon starting. After prolonged parking, the engine oil on the gears and components of the engine will settle to the bottom. If the car is started immediately without warming up, the engine won't receive sufficient lubrication, which can easily cause wear and tear. Over time, this can lead to a shortened lifespan of the engine. However, the warming-up period should not be too long. Once the engine speed stabilizes at around 700 to 800 RPM, it is sufficient. Prolonged warming up can increase carbon deposits in the engine.
