Do I still need to display a label after successfully applying for an exempt vehicle online?

After successfully applying for an exempt vehicle online, there is no need to display a physical label. Starting from June 20, 2020, electronic inspection labels have been implemented nationwide. Simply log in to the Internet Traffic Safety Comprehensive Service Management Platform or the Traffic Management 12123 app to view, download, and use the electronic label, which holds the same validity as the paper version. Vehicles exempt from inspection within six years can directly apply for and use the electronic label online. When presenting the proof, there are three methods available: online display, offline display, and printed display. Method for online display: Log in to Traffic Management 12123 and use the real-time generated electronic inspection label. Method for offline display: Log in to Traffic Management 12123, download the electronic inspection label directly to your phone, and present it when needed. Method for printed display: Download the electronic inspection label via the Internet Traffic Safety Comprehensive Service Management Platform or Traffic Management 12123, print it as a paper proof, which holds the same validity as the electronic version. The electronic inspection label is equally valid as the paper version for accident handling, insurance claims, leasing, mortgaging, and transactions, making it convenient for individuals and businesses.
I just got my new car not long ago, and applying for the inspection exemption online went super smoothly. After getting it done, I was wondering whether to stick that small label. I asked a friend at the vehicle management office, and they said most cities now use electronic tags—the system automatically updates the data, and traffic police can check it by scanning the license plate, so there’s no need to stick it anymore. However, if you travel to some smaller areas, the cameras might not keep up. They suggested downloading a certificate to store on your phone or printing it out to keep in the car, just in case. Saves the hassle of sticking it and avoids scratching the glass. Of course, remember to check the app regularly to make sure everything’s in order—don’t get careless and end up in trouble.
