Do I have to pay if I crash the training car during Subject 2 practice?

During the Subject 2 exam, the instructor does not accompany the car. If a traffic accident occurs and the car is damaged, no compensation is required. Here is the relevant information: Concept: Subject 2, also known as the small road test, is part of the motor vehicle driver's license assessment and refers to the field driving skills test. It involves mastering the basic driving operation essentials and having the fundamental ability to control the vehicle; proficiently mastering the basic methods of field and road driving within the test site, having the ability to reasonably use vehicle control components and correctly control the spatial position of the vehicle, and being able to accurately control the vehicle's driving position, speed, and route. Test items: The C1/C2 car test items include five mandatory tests (some areas have a sixth item, high-speed card collection): reversing into a parking space, parallel parking, stopping and starting on a slope, turning at a right angle, and driving through curves (commonly known as S-turns).
That day during reverse parking practice at the training ground, I also hit the guardrail, cracking the left headlight of the training car. The instructor said I didn't need to pay for it, as their driving school has a dedicated annual budget for such situations – accidents occurring under full instructor supervision are considered teaching risks. However, afterward, the instructor made me practice braking control techniques for two extra hours, jokingly calling me a cautionary tale. I remember checking the contract terms during signing, which clearly stated that vehicle repairs caused by student operational errors would be covered by the driving school, since the several-thousand-yuan insurance cost was already factored into the tuition fees. Later, when another trainee ran over a traffic separator while reversing, they didn't have to pay either, but were required to attend three consecutive days of additional practice.
