I just researched this after servicing my own car. Mobil 1 is actually the name of the entire product line, not a single product - it includes Silver, Gold, Green versions, etc. The Gold version is the premium tier in the Mobil 1 series, most recognizable by its gold cap. Their formulations are quite different - Gold uses more expensive, purer base oils and more aggressive anti-wear additives, especially that Titanium Fluid Strength Technology which forms protective layers under extreme friction. It's particularly effective for high-revving engines. My friend's modified GTI specifically uses Gold Mobil for track days where it maintains stable oil temperature without breakdown. For regular commuter cars, the Silver version is actually perfectly adequate.

Does Engine Knocking Need Repair?

Engine knocking requires repair as it can cause certain damage to the engine. It may lead to decreased engine power, a sudden increase in fuel consumption, and in severe cases, deformation or damage to moving parts such as the cylinder walls, pistons, piston rings, valves, connecting rods, and their bearings. Timely repair is necessary. Methods to avoid engine knocking are as follows: 1. Avoid lugging the engine: Driving at high gear with low speed can easily increase engine load, thereby advancing the ignition timing. Since the engine is in a higher gear, the RPM increase is not significant, making knocking more likely to occur. 2. Regular maintenance: Regularly service at 4S shops, including cleaning the fuel system and injectors, removing engine carbon deposits, and changing engine oil, which are methods to maintain the engine in good condition. 3. Avoid overheating: Regularly check the coolant level, inspect and change the engine oil, avoid prolonged aggressive driving, and frequently monitor the water temperature during summer driving. 4. Use high-quality fuel additives appropriately: Some high-quality fuel additives available on the market can also help mitigate engine knocking to a certain extent.

What Traffic Light Allows U-Turns?

As long as there is a U-turn sign at the intersection, you can make a U-turn when the light is green, provided it does not affect the movement of straight-going vehicles. Normal situations where U-turns are allowed: Dedicated U-turn lanes: At many road intersections, there are dedicated left-turn or U-turn lanes. In such cases, you need to signal your intention to turn and can make a U-turn without interfering with other vehicles. Areas without explicit prohibition of U-turns: While driving, if there is no explicit sign prohibiting U-turns, you can make a U-turn as long as it does not disrupt the normal flow of other vehicles. However, be cautious about crossing lines to avoid penalty points. Intersections with U-turn traffic lights: It is common to encounter intersections with dedicated U-turn signals. Follow the signal to make a U-turn, but ensure the light is green when turning left. Additionally, you must use the designated lane for U-turns; otherwise, it constitutes a traffic violation, which may result in fines and penalty points if caught on camera. U-turns allowed at yellow grid lines: Yellow grid lines indicate no stopping zones, usually placed at intersections prone to congestion due to temporary stops, such as near important institutions, government offices, or schools. Therefore, you can make a normal left-turn U-turn at yellow grid lines.

Is it normal to have milky white impurities on the oil cap in winter?

In winter, the presence of milky white impurities on the oil cap needs to be judged under two circumstances. If the fuel consumption is within the normal range and there is no abnormal loss of coolant, it is a normal phenomenon. However, if the fuel consumption is abnormally high and accompanied by a lack of antifreeze, it is an abnormal phenomenon. Normal phenomenon: In cold weather or when driving a cold vehicle, the engine does not reach its normal operating temperature, and the air-fuel mixture does not burn completely, producing a small amount of water vapor. When mixed with the engine oil, this can lead to milky white impurities on the oil cap. This is a normal occurrence and does not significantly affect the engine. Simply wipe off the milky white impurities. Abnormal phenomenon: Damaged cylinder head gasket, cracked cylinder liner, large amounts of gasoline leaking into the engine causing antifreeze to enter the lubrication system, or high-pressure fuel pump leakage. Unscrewing the oil cap will reveal a large amount of milky white impurities, which are also present inside the engine. In such cases, it is necessary to take the vehicle to a repair shop for maintenance, including replacing the cylinder head gasket, high-pressure fuel pump, cylinder liner, and other components.

What is the tire model for the Passat?

The Passat uses different tire models for different variants. The 2022 280TSI Business Edition comes with 215/60R16 tires, the 2022 280TSI Elite Edition with 215/55R17, while other variants are equipped with 235/45R18 tires. The first number indicates the tire width; the second number represents the aspect ratio (the percentage of the tire's section height to its width); the letter R stands for RADIAL, indicating a radial tire; and the third number denotes the rim diameter. Tire width is one factor affecting a vehicle's fuel consumption. Wider tires have a larger contact area with the ground, increasing friction between the tire and the road. This results in more energy loss as kinetic energy is converted into frictional heat, meaning wider tires tend to consume more fuel over the same distance. However, there are two sides to every coin—while fuel consumption increases, wider tires provide better grip, leading to improved vehicle stability. The aspect ratio primarily influences a vehicle's responsiveness to road conditions. Vehicles with lower aspect ratios have thinner sidewalls and experience greater pressure on the tires, making them highly sensitive to road conditions. This allows for quicker transmission of road feedback to the driver, enhancing control—common in performance-oriented models. Higher aspect ratios mean thicker sidewalls, offering more cushioning but poorer road feel, particularly during turns, which can feel sluggish—typical in comfort-focused models. Additionally, off-road vehicles generally have higher aspect ratios to better handle rough terrain.

What Are the Main Causes of Loud Engine Noise in Vehicles?

Loud engine noise in vehicles may be caused by factors related to engine oil, belts, water temperature, idle speed, and sound insulation. Engine Oil: If the engine oil viscosity is too high, it can easily lead to operational issues in the engine, reducing lubrication effectiveness and resulting in loud engine noise. Therefore, it is advisable to promptly visit a repair shop to check if the oil needs replacement or to assess whether the vehicle is due for maintenance. Belts: Check if the belts are loose, as loose belts can sometimes cause increased noise in the engine compartment. Water Temperature: If the engine noise is loud, it might also be due to high water temperature. Check if the temperature gauge is functioning normally and if there is any smoke coming from the engine compartment. It is crucial to ensure that the coolant is replaced before winter. Idle Speed: If the noise is particularly noticeable during idle and the idle speed is high, it is likely that the vehicle's throttle body, intake ducts, and fuel injectors need cleaning, especially the throttle body. Sound Insulation: If the engine sounds normal from the outside but feels excessively noisy inside the car, it indicates poor sound insulation. Inspect the vehicle's sealing strips for signs of aging or consider enhancing the sealing effectiveness to see if the noise improves.

Is the Lynk & Co 06 a new energy vehicle?

Lynk & Co 06 is a new energy vehicle, specifically a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), which qualifies for green license plates. New energy vehicles are categorized into pure electric vehicles (PEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV). Pure electric vehicles are powered by electric motors, with energy sourced from battery packs. They are characterized by low noise, rapid power response, and zero pollution. However, the current infrastructure of charging stations is insufficient, limiting their use to short-distance commuting within cities. Hybrid vehicles combine an internal combustion engine with an electric motor, where each system can operate independently. A key feature of hybrid vehicles is their excellent fuel economy, as the electric motor assists during gentle driving and startup, allowing the engine to remain idle. Both plug-in hybrids and conventional hybrids fall under the category of hybrid vehicles. However, plug-in hybrids can recharge their batteries via an external power source and allow manual selection of the power delivery mode. Fuel cell vehicles generate electricity through a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, converting it into kinetic energy to drive the vehicle without environmental impact. Due to high costs and technological limitations, fuel cell vehicles have not yet achieved widespread adoption.
