Turn the ignition key to the second position, the power-on position, allowing the vehicle's computer system to begin self-checking for at least 6 seconds or more. Press the foot brake and shift the gear from P (Park) to N (Neutral) (if reversing, start the engine directly in P). Release the foot brake and turn the ignition key to the start position to ignite the engine. Press the foot brake, release the handbrake, and shift the gear from N (Neutral) to D (Drive). Slowly release the foot brake to start moving, then smoothly press the accelerator pedal according to road conditions for safe driving.
