Car Makes Sizzling Sound When Starting

When the car is just started, you may hear a sizzling sound from the bottom of the car, which is a normal phenomenon. However, apart from normal circumstances, there is a high probability that the sizzling sound after starting the car is caused by the following four issues: 1. The body rigidity does not meet the normal standard, causing the vehicle to deform during driving, resulting in friction or shaking between the door and the frame; 2. The belt slips, causing damage to the generator, water pump, or power steering pump bearings; 3. The transmission bearings or gears have been worn out due to prolonged use without maintenance; 4. The tire tread is deformed, bulging, severely worn, or has insufficient air pressure.
Last time I started my car, I heard a squealing noise, especially when accelerating right after startup, and it seemed to come from the engine area. After checking, it might be due to a loose or aged belt, such as the alternator belt—if it's not tight enough, it can slip and cause this kind of noise. If left unfixed, it could get louder and even affect the air conditioning. For self-inspection, you can park and listen for the noise location. If it gets louder when turning, it might be the power steering belt. It's best not to delay—last time I waited two weeks and found the belt had cracked even more, costing me an extra hundred bucks for replacement parts. Remember, if the noise is noticeable during a cold start, pop the hood and check the belt condition before deciding to take it to the shop.
