Car Keys Accidentally Locked Inside the Car, How to Open the Door?
2 Answers
Nowadays, cars usually come with two keys, one for regular use and the other as a spare. The spare key can come in handy in such situations—either go back home to get it or ask a family member to bring it to you. It's important to keep the spare key in a safe place at home. Calling a locksmith is often a last resort. Make sure to choose a licensed and reputable locksmith company. Most 4S shops now offer after-sales rescue services. Simply call them and wait for the rescue team to arrive. If the location is remote and none of the above options are feasible, you might have to resort to more forceful methods to open the car door.
I often encounter this situation too, forgetting the keys in the car is really a headache. The simplest solution is to find a spare key. If you have friends or family nearby, ask them to bring it over. Otherwise, it's wise to hide a spare key outside the car, like in a small magnetic box attached to the tire. Another DIY method is using a coat hanger to unlock the door: straighten a wire hanger, bend it into a small hook, and insert it through the window gap to hook the inner door handle and gently pull. This requires patience—avoid yanking hard to prevent scratching the car paint. I tried it once in a park and managed to open it after half an hour, but the risk is potential glass damage, especially in summer when glass is more prone to cracking. It's best to attempt this in a safe environment or have a locksmith's number ready. Local locksmiths usually arrive quickly, with costs ranging between fifty to a hundred yuan. Preventively hiding multiple spare keys can save you a lot of trouble.
