Can You Turn Right on a Straight Arrow Red Light?
1 Answers
You cannot turn right on a straight arrow red light. For arrow traffic signals, you are only allowed to turn right when the right-turn arrow is green, and you must be in the right-turn lane. If you are in a straight lane, you cannot turn right regardless of whether the arrow is red or green. Additional Information: 1. Motor vehicle and non-motor vehicle signal lights (without arrows): (1) When the green light is on, vehicles are permitted to proceed, but turning vehicles must not interfere with the passage of straight-moving vehicles or pedestrians; (2) When the yellow light is on, vehicles that have already crossed the stop line may continue to proceed; (3) When the red light is on, vehicles are prohibited from proceeding. 2. Lane signal lights (with arrows): (1) When the green arrow light is on, vehicles in the lane are permitted to proceed in the indicated direction; (2) When the red cross or arrow light is on, vehicles in the lane are prohibited from proceeding. The direction indicator signal lights indicate left turn, straight, and right turn with arrows pointing left, up, and right, respectively.
