Can You Still Drive If the Coolant Level Is Below MIN?

If the coolant level is slightly below MIN, it is necessary to replenish the coolant promptly. Continuing to drive may affect the radiator's cooling efficiency, preventing it from achieving the desired cooling effect. This can disrupt the normal circulation of coolant, leading to overheating and, in severe cases, engine damage. How to Determine If Coolant Is Low: Check the coolant warning light on the dashboard. If it is illuminated, it is likely due to low coolant, though it could also be caused by excessively high cylinder temperatures. Inspect the coolant reservoir. If the fluid level is below the minimum mark (MIN), do not continue driving. Add coolant as soon as possible. Check the water level markings on the coolant overflow tank. The normal coolant level should be between the maximum and minimum marks. If the coolant is below the minimum mark, it indicates a deficiency. Coolant Replacement Interval: Vehicle coolant generally needs to be replaced every 2 years or 40,000 kilometers. This is only a reference interval. For commercial vehicles with higher mileage, the replacement interval should be shorter. Since driving conditions vary for each vehicle, the replacement schedule should be based on actual usage. Regularly check the coolant condition—if it is low, replenish it promptly. If suspended particles, sediment, discoloration, or deterioration are observed, replace the coolant immediately and flush the system.
