You cannot drive if the car belt breaks. Consequences of a broken timing belt: If the timing belt breaks, the vehicle cannot start, and the engine cannot operate normally. You can only call for rescue and tow the car to a repair facility for further inspection to determine the damaged components and replace them. Typically, at least the timing belt set needs to be replaced, and in severe cases, the engine may require a major overhaul. Consequences of a broken alternator belt: A broken alternator belt not only affects driving safety but can also cause the vehicle to break down. When the alternator belt breaks, the alternator stops working. At this point, the vehicle relies solely on the battery's direct power supply instead of the alternator. After driving a very short distance, the vehicle's battery will be depleted, making it impossible to start. In some models, the water pump is driven by the alternator belt. If the belt breaks, the engine will overheat, making normal driving impossible, and in severe cases, it can lead to engine damage due to overheating. Additionally, in some models, the power steering pump may also fail to function properly, resulting in loss of power steering.
